A maekake is a traditional Japanese apron, I think mostly worn by men. It wraps snugly around the hips and provides a little bit of lower back support. My friend Ryoko gave me this one, personalized! "Handmade cooking everyday", "Number 1", "Health".

The traditional color is indigo blue, and the cloth is cotton canvas.
I really wanted to find out how she was able to print just one custom apron, but I can’t find a source in the US. Hmmm. I suspect it was printed in Japan.
